Upon arriving in town today, we stopped by the Ronald McDonald House to drop by the donations we have accumulated. It took a full cart to bring in the goods, and the workers were very grateful! Thanks to all who donated!
I have still not received a call from the pre-op department. However we are assured the surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. This call was to to confirm medical history and to firm up eating times. I guess we are on our own. Up to this point, I have been instructed on two different eating schedules. So I am siding with the one from the anesthesiologist consult given they will be calling the shots. (Pun anyone? :))
Thank goodness G ate well at dinner tonight. She chose to have sausage pizza and we happily obliged. For a bedtime snack, it was grandma's banana bread (yum!) and Gatorade/water mix. I plan to wake her up at 0430 to eat a light cereal breakfast and milk. Then, keep clear fluids going until 4 hours prior to surgery. I want to ensure her blood sugar stays up.
Our NS requires a special showering regiment prior to surgery. Baby shampoo to cleanse the hair and face, then a special Anti-microbial soap/cleanser for the rest of the body. This must be done the night before and again the morning of surgery. Tonight's regiment went well. I only hope tomorrow morning goes as smoothly.
Thanks for everyone's support! All well wishes and support is truly appreciated.
